What is Causing Climate Change? What is Climate Change?

With increased globalization and development around the world, it is no surprise that humans are leaving big footprints on the planet. Our existence has indeed harmed the atmosphere of the planet. Scientists have been telling people to take climate change very seriously since the 20th century. They have been blaming the "greenhouse effect" – the rise in temperature that happens when the atmosphere traps the heat radiation from the planet towards space. We should also strive to develop a green community to cancel out some of the effects we are causing.

But before we dive deeper into the matter, we need to understand climate change.

What is climate change?

Climate change is an overall change in the usual patterns of a weather system that also results in changes in the oceans, land surfaces, and glaciers. Climate change is a change in the statistical properties of a climate system that is happening for years or decades, usually for about 30 years.

Evidence shows that our planet has been getting hotter. The warmest 20 years on record have been in the last 22 years, according to the World Meteorological Organization, and the warmest four were all very recent, from 2015 to 2018. Global average temperatures are now 1 ƒ higher than in the pre-industrial era. A degree may not sound like a lot. Still, the reality is that this global warming already appears to be having a negative impact on everything. If recent trends continue, it is set to worsen, with predictions of global temperatures increasing by 3-5 C by 2100. Even with this tiny rise in global temperatures, we are feeling the effects of climate change, with erratic weather patterns, including heatwaves, floods and severe storms, loss of polar ice, and rising sea levels.

Causes of Climate change

Natural causes

The earth had gone through warm and cool phases long before humans ever walked the planet. Elements that influence climate change are the sun's radiation, changes in naturally occurring greenhouse gas, and volcanic eruptions.

Anthropogenic causes

Humans are the leading cause of climate change. Especially the greenhouse gases play an important role in making the planet hot. The burning of fossil fuels, like coal, gas, and oil for electricity, heat, and transportation, is the main source of human-caused emissions. Deforestation is also one reason which releases carbon into the air, resulting in climate change. Other human activities that include fertilizers (source of nitrous oxide emissions) and livestock production are also one of the causes.

Moreover, the conventional construction industry is responsible for 39 percent of carbon emissions globally. That is why it is imperative to find alternative solutions and a change in lifestyle to eliminate the effects of the construction industry by adopting energy-efficient real estate. We have to find ways to build our homes and other properties in a more environmentally friendly manner.

Conclusion

Evo Haven builds houses from shipping containers that are environmentally sustainable and affordable as well. It can solve two of the major global problems, i.e., climate change and the housing problem.

Evo Opportunity Fund is committed to developing energy-efficient real estate in Qualified Opportunity Zones by creating sustainable housing for all. Evo promises to utilize the radical tax breaks provided by Opportunity Zones. The timing for this opportunity is now.
